[atlantaprog] Re: Proposals

<We should use our collective talents, access, and contacts to advance our own
interests. Not only do we have a self-interest in pushing our own music
careers>

I agree with this idea *very* much. Lots of talent in this group. It only
makes sense to leverage the best of that talent to maximum benefit!

<we have an obligation to overturn the current musical order which we would all
agree is in serious need of revolution. The local scene is attrocious. We
must supply a counter-trend.>

I would encourage everyone to think "win-win" rather than "win-lose". There
truly *is* room for more than one, or three, or even ten genres to grow and
succeed in Atlanta, in the USA, and in the world. We would all do well to
make friends with artists in other non-mainstream genres. World music, new
age, trance, ambient, alternative, indie, hard rock, metal, name many more...
the potential for "cross-over" fans to various bands in art-rock and prog does
exist. These people have already made the decision to support bands outside
the mainstream. It is *not* that big a leap to get them interested in giving
your band a "chance" in their ears.

To reap that kind of benefit, however, one usually has to implement a paradigm
of cooperation, co-existence, and mutual benefit across multiple stylistic
boundaries (i. e. "win-win") rather than "overthrow" and "revolution".

All IMO.

Feel free to discuss... or to not discuss. :-)
