This is a song I wrote today.  Musically it has a bit of an early 80s 
Smiths/Cure vibe.

Green Means Go

Looking for some link to truth.

and nothing better comes to mind.
So you go with what your thinking.
It beats limping through this blind.

Green means go.
We all know.
The darkness may grow,

Full of doubt.
You've got one thing you're holding onto
and that's that green means go.

So you try to sort it through.
All these threads make up your life.
If that girl won't be your girlfriend.
She won't ever be your wife.
But it really is no secret.
Just to see her is to cling
to that thing that you can never really have.
And in your crucible you sing...

Green means go.
We all know.
The darkness may grow,

Worlds apart.
Broken heart.
It wasn't supposed to end like this,
but green, it still means go.
