Okay, time to come out of the closet, guys.

How many members of this mailing list have a music degree, or let's say at least two years as a music major at a college or university (because, as we all know, the really talented drop out of school and get on with their careers). For this poll, diploma programs like GIT, AIM or even Full Sail also count.

It is perfectly obvious that there are many excellent musicians who didn't study it full-time in college (including a few subscribers here), so no disrespect to anybody.

Concentration: Recording Studio Engineering
Principal Instrument: Classical Voice (operatic tenor)
The first half of my degree was earned at Belmont University, Nashville, Tennessee in the late 80's

I "graduated" from MI/GIT in Hollywood, Ca in 1989 - just a plain old "Certificate of completion" which is what 95% of the people get. THere are people who graduate w/ Honors, and those who graduate w/ a Studio Musician level certificate. When I went the Studio Musician Graduation was generally given out to only 2 people per graduation. Not because they only let 2 people do it, but because the tests are so hard, that only the VERY top students can pass the tests (these students, incidentally, are often better than many of the teachers!).

I also took a "Jazz Improv" class at Emory as an elective. Taught by the late Paul Mitchell of the Paul Mitchell Jazz Trio that used to be the "house band" and Dante's Down the Hatch in buckhead.
