[atlantaprog] OT: but about music

this isn't really prog, but some from Atlanta may remember the band 86 from the 80s. Well, I administer their MySpace site, and just wanted to let any interested parties know about this...

Seems hard to believe that it was really 20 years ago that the boys last played The Metroplex, but there you have it. I've decided to celebrate with several surprises in the coming month. Starting with some VERY vintage tracks of bands that predated 86. Our first selection is ACROPOLIS from a live performance at an assembly for Lovett High School in 1976. Here we have teenagers Max on vocals and Mac on drums with a cover of UFO's "Rock Bottom" and an excerpted version of the Hendrix classic "Fire" (with a drum solo by Mac). The sonic quality of these recordings is not the best, but they are what exists from a bygone era.

Enjoy this RARE track, and check back often throughout the month for more surprises and treats...

And if anyone has any tapes, pics, or other ephemera (including posters) please pass them along, so we can share them with everybody that shared a fondness for this group, Materials can sent to me at

Who knows, your contribution may end up on a compilation or box set someday.

Best wishes to all,
Kevin Haller
