Frankly I was a bit disappointed when I saw them at Variety a couple of
years ago. Albrighton's voice just ain't got the range, but the guy
didn't seem to want acknowledge it, so he played fast and loose with
the melodies and many times couldn't grab the pitch. Also, their organ
guy (note I DIN'T say "keyboard" guy), while doing a passable Taff
Freeman imitation on some of the tunes, tried to do the whole
"Recycled" with just a B3 sound - with no attempt made at all to
replicate any of Larry Fast's synth work - and if you're familiar with
Recycled, you KNOW how crucial those synth lines are. It really was a
frustrating listening experience.
