[atlantaprog] Re: Nektar

Frankly I was a bit disappointed when I saw them at Variety a couple of years ago. Albrighton's voice just ain't got the range, but the guy didn't seem to want acknowledge it, so he played fast and loose with the melodies and many times couldn't grab the pitch. Also, their organ guy (note I DIN'T say "keyboard" guy), while doing a passable Taff Freeman imitation on some of the tunes, tried to do the whole "Recycled" with just a B3 sound - with no attempt made at all to replicate any of Larry Fast's synth work - and if you're familiar with Recycled, you KNOW how crucial those synth lines are. It really was a frustrating listening experience.

Hey Guys and Gals,
I just saw this posting on the Progressive Ears web site:

3/18/07 Nektar, Georgia, USA Center Stage

The last time I saw them was in 1975. (Missed the NEARFest performance)
