This might sound a touch melodramatic, but I really think it's a matter of 
our civilization inexorably sliding towards the lowest common denominator.  
When 
I talk about pop idols etc, it's really not just the music I abhor.  It's the 
shallow, superficial, plastic culture that the music represents.  I 
absolutely believe in the "dumbing down" of our society and that we're 
certainly moving 
towards Huxley's Brave New World if we aren't practically there all ready.
