Oh, no wait -- the should be RE: Umphrey's McGee. My bad.
Anywho, I smelled something Phishy from a mile away, as the primary
person I know pushing these cats is a former bandmate who has given the
better part of the last 10 years to Phish. God help him.
But the descriptions given are not surprising. I'm sure it was a good
show, and that I would have liked the 2nd set better than the first.
Unfortunately, though, I might not have made it through "Black Water" .
Can you imagine Doobie in your Prog? Whoa!
One other thing:
I respectfully submit that the singular problem with "modern prog" (such
as it is) is that the majority of bands lumped into that category
(voluntarily or otherwise) cannot write a decent song to save their
wanky lives. Complexity <> good music in and of itself.
So with that said, how were U.M.'s originals?
