I'll be honest with ya'll. I'm getting sick of moderating this list.
There's only so much I can do, and everything I do seems to piss
SOMEONE off.
Allen, with all due respect, that's their problem. I mean, it's not
as if this list has seen much traffic lately; I suspect that most of
us have vented sufficiently and that the worst is over.
Besides, there is just going to be *some* bickering. As long as it's
at a manageable level, it'll be OK. Remember, "the perfect is the
enemy of the good."
If someone hurts someone's feelings, or someone has an opinion about
how someone is reacting to another - then PLEASE contact them
individually and don't perpetuate these threads on the list.
Agreed totally. But I do want to open my big mouth about something...
Meanwhile, if someone is willing to take over as moderator (or
co-moderator) - contact me off-list and lets talk about it. ...you
have to able to take a lot of criticism, because BY GOLLY, you'll
get it!
To be honest, I'd say that's one of the criteria for being a *poster*.
You know, I spend too much time on Usenet, and this sort of thing is
par for the course (which you found out once for yourself, I know).
What I have to explain is that ill feeling is actually pretty low on
many such groups; when people in newsgroups finally meet (which does
happen--there are even yearly newsgroup conventions), they generally
get along pretty well. What's on the newsgroup stays on the
newsgroup. Why? Because deep down, those of us who keep in touch
genuinely care about each other in the end, and we always remember
that. I'm sure you've come across friends or colleagues or people in
a relationship who it seems argue and fight all the time, but still
seem to remember that they care about each other; well, that's often
how it is in a healthy newsgroup. We understand that people simply
will have radically different viewpoints on things, and in all
honesty it's probably better that they have flame wars on a newsgroup
than shouting matches or even fisticuffs in the physical world.
