[atlantaprog] Re: Last night at 9 Lives

Hey everybody!

Big thanks to everyone who came out last night! 9 Lives were pleased with the turnout, so things are looking good for us to have found a new home in Little 5 Points. We don't have a secure date for April yet (we're shooting for 4/22) because Curtis is still "the new guy" as far as booking the club, and they're still trying him out on an event by event basis. He's got a classic rock cover project debuting next week that's supposed to appear every Thursday night, and the plan is that ARIA would be their monthly night off. However, they need to do that night a few times before they finalize anything, so it may be a couple of weeks before they're willing to nail the April date down for us. The good side is that if this plan doesn't work precisely this way, they may decide to give us a different night of the week, and even a weekend! I will definitely keep everybody posted as things develop.
As I said, 9 Lives were quite pleased with our Thursday night turnout; I, however, was not. At our height we had a total of 28 people in the room, and only 21 paying customers, making last night our poorest showing so far. Lord Only is on tour in Florida, so they're excused, but we had a couple of bands who didn't come out (you know who you are), and it really hurt us. If this had been a weekend night, we might not have been asked back, so take that for what it's worth.
Enough finger wagging! The good news is that we have a new band to add to our rotation! As We Dream has come forward to swell our ranks, and they feature Woody Crawford of Mindworm on bass who suggested that they become ARIA participants. I've got AWD down to make their ARIA debut in May, but if you'd like a preview, please check out their show with NoiseDotCom this coming Saturday, 3/20, back up at CJ's Landing! Welcome aboard, you guys, and have a great show!
I don't have any specific dates yet, but here's what next few months will look like for the ARIA showcases:

Participating Aria bands

1. Z-Axis April
2. Sundog April
3. Lord Only May
4. As We Dream May
5. Paine’s Promise June
6. Noise.com June

Rogue Fest July

7. Karma Lingo August
8. Man on Fire August
9. Solution Science Systems September

We'll take July off so that I can concentrate on the Rogue Festival, and then jump right back in it in August.
As far as Rogue Fest goes, as Bill Kargel has already announced, Wade Summerlin and I are very close to having everything finalized this year. About a third of the line up will feature ARIA bands, and believe me, the decision process has been brutal. Wade and I will send out a general announce next week, but just be ready that the ARIA bands that we chose are the ones that we felt have been around the longest, have the biggest draw, and who have been the most active in the last year. So if you go down the ARIA list and look at each band with those criteria in mind, there shouldn't be any suprises in the final choices.
That's all from me today! Thanks a lot, and we'll see you all soon!

Take care till then,

Matthew
