Just back from the Jon Anderson show... here's my take:
The best part of the show was hearing fresh takes on the old Yes stuff
such as Yours is No Disgrace, Revealing Science and Ritual, as well as
some of the Jon and Vangeles stuff.
It was fun hearing him make a few mistakes. After all, it was a "works
in progress" show. But oddly the mistakes I heard were in old Yes
tunes... he forgot a line in And You and I and had to ask the audience
for help! He would also pause on the "count to one hundred" lyric in
Long Distance Runaround so he could make the right chord on his guitar.
During the Q&A, someone asked him to sing Onward. He tried, but
couldn't remember the lyrics!
Still a great show. He's in fine voice for a 58-year old, and his stage
presence was very warm and friendly. Makes me long to hear again with
the other Yesguys soon.
Oh yeah, a couple of other things I learned at the Variety tonight:
21st Century Schizoid Band will be here in April, Nektar in September,
and rumor has it that a certain Canadian tribute band will be touring
the US with a production featuring a certain Puerto Rican protagonist
this fall, with Atl a likely tour stop...
