[atlantaprog] Re: Gnosis presents The Crossing

wow Allen, that sounds really cool! Something my two older girls would enjoy
also, but I'll be at NF that weekend. Will it ever be performed again that you
know of?
PEACE
Beth

(I apologize if you receive multiple postings of this message. There
is a lot of cross-pollination amongst local email lists!)
  Gnosis presents "The Crossing"

  Multi-media Aerial and Earthbound Dance

Gnosis, recently named "Best Experimental Dance Troupe" by Creative
Loafing, will be presenting their latest work -- "The Crossing" --
  at 7 Stages Theater June 27 - 29, 2003.

"The Crossing" -- created by choreographer/performer Elle Udaykee
Trapkin and composer/multi-media artist Allen Welty-Green -- uses
aerial and earthbound dance, video and still image projections,
text and original music to relay the universal story of the spiritual
  journey.

The music for "The Crossing" will be performed live by Z-Axis
  (http://www.gnosisarts.org/z).

In addition to Trapkin's performance, "The Crossing" will feature
performances by Amy Estlund (from Moving in the Spirit), Jeff
Anderson (from Circus Equilibrus) and Jose Rivera (from Ballethnic).

There will also be video by London-based multi-media artists Theron
Schmidt and Rajni Shah, slide images and costumes by Madeleine St.
Romain and free verse by Cornelia Powell.

Choreography for "The Crossing" is by Trapkin, in collaboration with
Estlund and Shad Sterling (Circus Arts).

In addition to "The Crossing," the program will also include, and a
selection of repertoire works from Gnosis' touring production,
"Reality Check." These selections include Gnosis' first foray into
aerial dance, "Suspension," a subterranean video meditation, "Holy
Ground," and a dance/video exploration of the media culture, "In the
Country of the Blind, the One-Eyed Man is King," performed by Trapkin
and local performer Andrew David. It is also rumored there will also
be guerilla performance by Priscilla Smith (Women on Fire)...

Performances will be at 7-Stages Theater in Little Five Points, 1105
Euclid Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30307. Showtimes are Friday, June 27 and
Saturday, June 28 at 8:00 PM, and Sunday June 29 at 5:00 PM.
Admission is $15 general, $10 students. For reservations, call the
7-Stages box office at 404-523-7647 or visit http://www.7stages.org

For more information on Gnosis, or The Crossing, call Allen

Watch for the interview in next week's Creative Loafing!

  An invitation...

I maintain an email list devoted to announcing occasional avant-garde
and cutting performance events, such as "The Crossing". If you're
interested in this sort of work, I invite you to subscribe to the
list. I won't share your e-mail address with ANYONE for ANY PURPOSE,
and you'll rarely get more than one email a month from me (if that
  many!)

To subscribe send an email to gnosis-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx and put
  "subscribe" (without the
quotes) in the Subject line. That's all!

Some of you are probably already on the "gnosis list". If so, I
apologize for sending you multiple copies.

You may be wondering how I got your email address... most likely you
were referred to me by one of the artists involved in The Crossing,
or by another artistic associate, or maybe by someone else on the
  gnosis
list. If you received this message in error, I apologize. But don't
worry, I won't be keeping this list. You shouldn't receive anymore
correspondence from me, unless you are somehow referred to me again
  in the future!
