We're doing digital thru CDBaby. I think we're on iTunes and about 7-9
other networks. CDBaby's been badass so far for us in terms of selling
"Daemon". I trust their whole organization based on dealings so far.
Haven't seen any results yet, but the whole digital distribution thing
is pretty spotty still anyway. I expect to see some stuff happen over
the next few months.
Anybody submitted to XM Radio's Unsigned bands station?

Apple Computer has posted a Web page about how to apply to have tracks
from your independent record label sold on iTunes.

Furthering the reach of iTunes, Hewlett-Packard is now selling iPods
and pre-installing iTunes on all new HP and Compaq computers, starting
this week. This should do a lot to grow their market. Change is good.
I know that Lord Only's label got their new album placed on iTunes.
Have you guys had any tiny royalty checks from that?

Looks like ITunes just got bigger and better! :-)
Has anyone here explored "Weedshare" as a distribution method for their
music? It is a small distributor but they landed Heart's new album so
that is not exactly *tiny* anymore is it?
It is cool b/c it actually *encourages* regular users to legally share
copies that can be played up to 5 time free. To listen the 6th time,
the user pays $1 per song.
Of the $1, a cut goes to the artist, and a smaller cut goes to the
person that *shared* the "5-play" song with the end purchaser! So if
you sell weedshare songs from your website, you get *both* cuts. The
*artist* and the *distributor* percentage of the sale.

We've sold around 10 songs in 5 months. iTunes has really done nothing
for us. One problem I have found with iTunes is that there is no good
way to
*FIND* music you don't know about. Songs are not arranged by genre, nor
is there any kind of way to look for bands that "sound like" or "are
influenced by"...
