[atlantaprog] Re: Fodder for conversation...

The venue itself is very nice, but due to its location, the gov't-mandated
maximum sound level is too low, and sometimes if you're not sitting pretty
close in it's hard to hear the performer well enough, especially for rock. The
last time I was there, for Yes with orchestral backup, it was hard to hear the
orchestra and Steve Howe's solo guitar bit was drowned out by crowd noise.
Tull was similar.

The larger problem, IMO, is demographic. The place is infested with corporate
yuppie types, who buy season subscriptions and take clients and prospects there
to discuss business rather than listen to music. And there are the hordes of
Logans and Britneys with their wine and brie, clinking glasses and yapping
loudly on cellphones throughout. Numerous performers have chastised the
audience for being so loud and distracted. I guess it's nice if you want to
have a picnic with casual background music, but if you're trying to focus on
hearing someone you really like, not so good.
