I'd like to tell you about a Georgia Renaissance Fair performer named
Eric Larkins. He's a solo classical guitarist. Matthew Trautwein and I
went to see him perform a couple of weeks ago.
He comes from an 80's shred-metal background, a Vai and Petrucci
disciple, but in this incarnation he plays Renaissance, Baroque and
Romantic solo classical guitar (what the union players call "legit"
music). Albeniz, Bach, etc. However, he's been known to throw in
occasional short arrangements of stuff by the likes of Alex Lifeson,
Steve Howe or Rick Emmett on his unsuspecting guests.
With your permission, I'd like to post announcements here about his
gigs, at least the ones that are open to the public and not private
parties. He's one of us.
