Not counting recording gear (ie computer, mixer, mics, software, etc.)
since I already had that stuff - our CD cost $1500 for
manufacturing/printing. I did the design myself and got the film output
free at the company I was working for at the time. I also did the
mastering. Another major expense however is promotion! I've probably
spent at least 500 on postage, ads, etc. and I've sent out promo copies
all over the place. Also, don't foget the time it takes to do all of
this promotion/distribution stuff. That is the weakest link with most
indie releases.
