It is what the market will bare. It is a weekday night, and people can
stay home, and will do so if the cover for a bunch of local bands that
they never heard of is more than $5 (generalizations here). It's pretty
much that simple.

They noted that many people who swap stolen music on the Internet argue=20
that they are somehow morally justified in doing so because CDs today=20
cost too much money. The New York Times blew that argument out of the=20
water with this chart:

OK, here is how retarded the NYT logic is:

Item: CD Player
Year of purchase: 1983
Price $700
Inflation price (guessing here): $2100

But CD players are $30 for portable ones. Mass production and
technology produces new ways to cut costs. In 1955 methods of production
were not as cheap as they are today. CDs are cheaper to prpoduce than
vinyl. They were once luxuries. In 1955 when Frank Sinatra albums were
very expensive people had radios. Many, but not all had "victrolas" and
even less had TVs. It was a whole different market, and a whole
different time. They are comparing apples to oranges, and not apples to
apples. Geez, you'd think that the NYT would hire people to write
intelligent articles.=20

DISCLAIMER: I didn't actually read the article cause I think now they
want you to pay to read it, so I may be making flase assumptions here.

Album: Eminem, The Eminem Show
Year of Release: 2002
Estimated original price: $15
Price adjusted for inflation: $0.01 - that=92s about how much I'd pay =
for
it! And only cause I could run down to the used CD store and sell it
for $3 and get a free lunch at Wendys! :-)
