[atlantaprog] Re: Caravan & Nektar Wednesday night!!!

The Land of Grey and Pink has one of their big suites (Nine Feet) and one of their shorter tunes (Golf Girl sans spoon solo I'm afraid!). I believe the other suite was from Girls Who Grow Plump... but I'm not sure.

The opening pair, "Memory Lain, Hugh" (most of which I missed--bleah!) and "Headloss", is from 1973's *For Girls Who Grow Plump In the Night", the first Caravan album to feature violist Geoffrey Richardson, as are "The Dog, The Dog, He's At It Again", "Backwards" (the slow eight-chord jam), and "A-Hunting We Shall Go" (the odd-meter riff). "And I Wish I Were Stoned" and the "For Richard" medley are from 1970's *If I Could Do It Again, I'd Do It All Over You*. The studio recording of "Golf Girl" presents the opening melody on trombone, actually, and is sung by original bassist Richard Sinclair, cousin of usual keyboardist David Sinclair (the Rick Wakeman of Caravan) and the "Richard" of "For Richard" (and now a solo act). That should cover most of the set--I can't remember what else they did that wasn't new to me.
