[atlantaprog] Re: A number of points & observations regarding recent posts

I tried to book a show for Little Atlas to be in Bill. It didn't work out due
to the wonderful nature of all Atlanta's wonderful, lovely clubs! :-(
Anyway....they were looking for something for the 4th of Oct. and I couldn't
get anything booked in time...still haven't heard back from anywhere actually.
PEACE
Beth

posts

  AWG stated:

"Well, lets see... We (I) got this list up and running
  (also keep it
maintained). We (I) got a bunch of folks to sign up
  on this list (and
missed the first bit of the Crimson concert) therefore
  giving us all
access to a bunch of local prog fans for promoting our
  shows. We (Bill
& I) got the website up (such as it is). We were
  instrumental in
helping produce and promote Roguefest, and we were
  instrumental in
helping Wade produce the Progression CD (how many of
  us would have even
KNOWN about it if not for ARIA?) We all got our music
  on Greg's
Internet Radio show. As far as building an audience,
  would Paine's
Promise, Lord Only AND Man on Fire even know of each
  other's existence,
MUCH LESS be sharing a show together without ARIA?
  Hopefully each band
will get exposed to each others handful of fans. Would
  this CJ's thing
have even happened if not for Matthew's involvement
  with ARIA? I know I
personally have worked my tail off trying to build
  ARIA into a viable
entity, and I have often felt alone trying to get
  things done. I only
have a limited amount of available time and energy."

Yes, we have actually accomplished a lot...but I
really feel that this is going to be ARIA's true
turning point! A regular venue to facilitate exposure
of local and original progressive music to the public
at large is just what the doctor ordered, since such
exposure is our "Prime Directive"! It's now up to us
to take advantage of the golden opportunity we are
being given here....as it is, taking into account
Allen's observations, it has been a team effort so
  far, so why stop now?

Hi Steve! Glad to see some "out-of-towners" posting
here! For the record, I lived in Tallahassee for a
number of years, so I know what you are talking about!

There has to be a few other bands in south Florida
that are prog or at least prog-influenced! Maybe they
jsut don't advertise that...keep in mind that there
are so many types of prog anyway...!

I visited the Little Atlas website, and noted that you
guys are planning a SE tour soon!

With that in mind, I would propose to the folks in
ARIA that we consider maybe inviting Little Atlas to
perform with one or more of our "family" of bands
while in town...either as part of the new CJ's "Night
of Prog" (LOL) or at a seperate show like the upcoming
Library gig with LO, MoF and PP. It can only be to
everyone's benefit, and definately would give more
exposure to Little Atlas, a band from out of state,
yet also would benefit ARIA and local prog music, as
the same audience would be there anyway, Little Atlas
being there or not. Just an idea.

We all want our music to get out to a wider
audience...we need to stay focused on this, but
collectively as a group, since the chance of success
alone is about nil. I am already detecting a hint of
frustration and dissent among the ranks...and this is
the worst possible time for that! Let us make a
maximum effort on this...we have nothing to lose! We
have a few cool local prog shows at least...but if
this takes off, the rewards will be great for all
  involved!

  Regards,

  Bill
