I actually enjoy The Station Formerly Known as Z-93's new format quite a bit.
They stll play some sixties and seventies music. I've heard Floyd, Zep, The
Stones and Hendrix on there among other classic rock staples. I do wish they
would play a bit more IRS era R.E.M. and a bit less WB era. I certainly am
liking Dave-FM more than any other commercial station right now.
I haven't particulary listened to 96 Rock in ages because of the presence of
the afforementioned "mook rock". However, I have recently discovered
Evanesence, who are sort of like "mook rock" only with a real singer who sounds
a bit
like Tori Amos. (Yeah, yeah, and she offers me absolutely no eyestrain
whatsoever.) I find that I can actually sort of enjoy that sound as long as I
don't
have to listen to a goatee and bowling shirt sporting singer who sounds like a
bleating sheep or a whining fourteen-year-old.
I wonder if they'll add the usual Yes staples to the 96-Rock playlist. Z-93
was the only station that ever played them in recent years.
