[atlantaprog] 96rock (not about prog, really, but what the heck)

OK, as long as we're rolling again:
Has anyone noticed what's happened to 96rock in the wake of the
changes at the former Z-93? I notice they're calling themselves
"Atlanta's Classic Rock Station", without really changing very much.
(I guess it was bound to happen sometime. Most of the mook-rock, of
course, has been sent to 96.7.) OTOH, I'm starting to hear tunes I
haven't heard in a *long* time; I just heard Motley Crue's "Girls,
Girls, Girls" tonight, and last night they played Triumph's "Fight
The Good Fight", which isn't such a bad tune, really, only suffering
in comparison to, well, Yes and ELP and stuff like that. To which I
could only say two things:
1. What took them so long? Tunes like these are, if not classics,
staples of the *rawk* listener's diet. They didn't have to drop them
*completely*.
2. Do they have to be a "classic rock station" in order to put this
stuff back in rotation? I see no reason why 96rock shouldn't
continue to play new music (especially now that they've got The
Darkness and Jet out there).
