[atari7800] AW: PAL timing?

It's 1.773447 MHz (PAL) vs 1.79 MHz (NTSC)
But since you don't have to do this exact cycle counting it isn't very
critical IMHO (at least not as critical as 2600 coding)
For more clocking info's take a look here

frame count (updated each new frame) and see if it were divisible by 60 or
50 (or close enough to it). Would we have to do the same with the 7800?

Yes.

Betreff: [atari7800] PAL timing?

Hi there,

Yep, it's me again. The man with 1000 questions.

How does timing on the PAL 7800 differ from the NTSC? I haven't found
anything documenting this yet. I have to admit I haven't looked too hard
either though.

Does the PAL 7800 have a faster CPU like they did with the A8? Do we have
to do timing like we do for the 2600? For instance, the NTSC 2600
refreshes at ~60 frames per second and the PAL refreshes ~50 frames per
second. So if we wanted a some what acurate time clock we could take the
frame count (updated each new frame) and see if it were divisible by 60 or
50 (or close enough to it). Would we have to do the same with the 7800? I
assume yes but I want to be sure.

Take care,
Dennis
