Each 160 pixel is 5 bits of line RAM. The 320 modes only change how the
bits are read, not written. So unless all 5 bits are zero (and kangaroo
mode off), then all bits are changed to the new value. If kangaroo mode is
on, then all 5 bits are always changed and any color 0 pixels are displayed
as the background color.
