Partial Lunar Eclipse on June 26
Just a quick reminder of the partial lunar eclipse before dawn tomorrow
morning. This is a partial eclipse, not total anywhere. Europe, Africa and the
Middle East unfortunately will miss out entirely, seeing nothing but a bright
Full Moon before dawn. In North America, far northern and northeastern Canada
also will miss out, and the Eastern portions of the U.S. and Canada, as well as
parts of North Central Canada will see only part of the faint, penumbral phase.

The view gets better the farther West you go, although only Hawaii will
experience the entire event. At greatest eclipse, just slightly more than half
of the Moon's surface will be in the deeper part of the shadow. This is the
northern half, which will variously appear as the top to righthand side,
depending on the observer's geographic location. Greatest eclipse occurs at
7:39 a.m. EDT (5:39 a.m. MDT), well after sunrise for most of the continent
except the West Coast.

If you are an early riser, you'll want to check this out. If you miss it, just
wait until the December Solstice (Dec. 21) when there will be a total lunar
eclipse visible in its entirety across North America!
