It was a simple insert using curosr, usually it takes 15-20 minutes I think 
that is still more time.
This time it took nearly 50 minutes to complete..there was no load at that time.
the datase is in RAC..and this is why I want to go in some deep..

v$session_wait , what does it say ?
are you using sqlldr for this operation .. or a direct path insert ?
