[ask] raven run and next week's field trip

Rhonda and I walked at Raven Run yesterday. The flowers were in great
splendor, and butterflies were out (mostly tiger swallowtails and
commas). The gnat catchers were back along with the Prairie Warblers,
and 2 Black-throated Green Warblers were seen. Oh, and we flushed what
was likely a grouse; I had heard drumming before. I still didn't see one
but the flutter from the wings sounded too loud for a Bobwhite to me.

 

Next Saturday there is a field trip scheduled for the hatchery at Cave
Run. As group leader, I plan to also check out local woods in a place or
two nearby. I do not plan on extensive walking beyond shuffling about
the hatchery from pond to pond.  We leave from Eastland shopping center,
behind Rite Aid at 8:00 AM. I would take a head count if you wanted.
