There must be! ;-) I am sure I am not alone in not having hundreds of
applications in that one directory.
Unfortunately !XChars does not have a !Boot file which would need to
contain the same line as the !Run file:
set XChars$Dir <Obey$Dir>
in order for it to work in a non-location specific way - then your
launcher could contain
*filer_run <XChars$Dir>.!Run
just so long as !XChars had been seen by the filer.
Failing that, users could be asked to use Add to Apps in configure/boot
and then a generic
*filer_run Resources:$.Apps.!XChars
will work, no matter where the app is physically stored.
