Hi,

In message <aecbf32a52.rcomp@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>, A Rawnsley
There's something odd going on. I'm zipping with !SparkFS 1.42, and
using the "Test Archive" feature before uploading. Either the FTP
transaction is killing the zips (possible) or... I don't know.

With the default set up, SparkFS leaves archive files open, for a short time. If you're in a hurry it is possible to copy the archive whilst it is open, result a corrupt file.

This is a feature... it makes certain operations go a lot faster. Like copy with the filer, if every time you add a file, the archive has to be opened and then closed - which involves writing a directory to the end, things go very slowly.

You can set up SparkFS so it does not do this, you can use the archive menu to 'forget' about the archive which closes it. The timeout is 5 seconds. Patience, you can usually see the disc light flash.

The common form of corruption is truncation, the central[*] directory of the zip not being added. SparkFS can be set up (*ZipUseCentralDirectory...) to manage with out this. There is zip fixing software (for Windows) that can analyse what is wrong - which might give someone a clue how the corruption is being generated.

* 'central' but usually at the end of the file.
