Hello all,
I have just uploaded a test build which has been successfully deployed on
a number of machines now. It provides improved video/monitor compatibility
as well as HDMI audio, and comprehensive detection of audio/video
capabilities.
I can personally vouch for this as being a big step forward - I can now
hook up my ARMX6 to my AV receiver in the living room for faultless audio
and picture quality. By contrast, older ROMs exhibited a wierd "shift" to
the picture (and no audio), whilst other boards (eg. Panda) display with
incorrect colours. This is quite an achievement, in other words.
DigitalCD reports sample rates up to 192khz via the amplifier, although I
must admit all my test music is from CD so 44.1khz.
The new ROM can also detected extended capabilities, which allows the Amp
to offer addition HDTV modes (PAL, NTSC in standard and high definition,
plus 24hz blu-ray).
Other testers have achieved great success with "difficult" monitors such
as a Korean 2560x1440 display, and of course the 3440x1440 super-wide
displays that I am so enamoured with work perfectly.
So, if you'd like to give it a try, you'll find ARMX6_hdmi_test.zip on the
ARMX6 download site now. It includes a readme file which you should read,
plus an obey file to read & enable HDMI audio.
Kind wishes,
Andrew
PS, rom also includes support for the SPI controller on the board. This
is used to control/communicate with a number of industrial devices. If
you are interested in this, please get in touch a I'll put you in contact
with the programmer for more info.
