This is pretty much depending from the CMYK-driver and used printer 
hardware. In some combinations, 80% color in the data is leading to a 
solid color in printing. Higher values making the color darker and let 
the Hue changing.

Clipping the Ink at the point, where you get solid colors ( or a little 
bit later...) leads to more linear printed testcharts and fine smooth 
profiles.
