The intent used to create the gamuts should reflect the intent that would be used to link the two profiles together. So if relative colorimetric or some other white point adapted linking were to be used (ie. perceptual or saturation as well), then the relative colorimetric gamuts better represent the task a gamut mapping system faces, or the level of clipping that will occur.
