There are differences between how Argyll and qhull computes a gamut surface. qhull will compute a convex hull using all the given surface points. Argyll will first filter the surface points using a "segmented maxima" type algorithm, and then computes a convex hull in a space that allows some degree of convexity in the surface. Graeme Gill.
