[argyllcms] Re: profile -S -g

OK. So to recap, the problem here is that you need to build your printer profile using ISOCoated's perceptual response as a reference gamut, and have no way of extracting that gamut in a form you can pass to the Profile command?

Graeme, how difficult would it be to make fakeread use the Perceptual table for special cases such as this? I notice from its code that it falls back to "IcmDefaultIntent" if "IcAbsoluteColorimetric" isn't available. Supposing one patched fakeread to use Perceptual here (or added a run-time switch) - would the readings then enable the creation of a substitute ISOCoated profile that could be passed to profile -S, or would there be some other nasty side-effect I'm missing?

Other than that, the only other thing I can think of is to try and find an image that covers most or all of the gamut you need, transform it using ISOCoated's perceptual table to another profile that behaves in a more Argyll-friendly manner (perhaps even an Lab profile), then extract the gamut in Jab with tiffgamut -ij, which can then be passed to profile.

All the best,
