I oversatured warm colors in the land, but if I convert the original
file (ProPhoto) to my monitor's profile the red channel is not
clipped. In fact the gamut of this photo is almost contained in my
monitor's gamut. I erroneously thought that would have been the same
for AdobeRGB, but it seems my monitor's gamut is quite bigger than
AdobeRGB (I checked it and it's 115% of AdobeRGB).

I post processed this photo again avoiding the use of the over-satured
layer for the land. I used a higher noise reduction filter in the dark
area with the trees (because they were mostly out of my monitor's
gamut) and in the sea. I also did a few heavy-noise-reduction spot
corrections in the sea. Finally I resized the image at 1200px (no
unsharp mask for the 1200px file this time, just some spot corrections
in the full size photo).

This is my monitor's profile (Nec MultiSync 3090WQXi, i1 Display 2,
Spectraview II hardware calibration, profiling with Argyll 1.0.4, 3000
patches, LUT, High Quality):

This is the sRGB image converted with relative intent (I converted it

IMHO relative intent is still the best for this photo and sRGB
destination space.

Sorry, I'm not sure what do you mean with 'asses'...
