The version information follows.  I'm using an ATI Radeon HD4850 with their 
proprietary driver  (Catalyst
9.5 - 2D driver version 8.61.2 / OpenGL version 2.1.8664).   Is this the likely 
problem?  I'm really out of my area here but would like to be helpful.  Please 
let me know if there's anything I can do.  - William
