To add to this, there is also the opposite problem present, that for most CMYK values, there will be no inverse (since the CMYK values that come out of such a device link occupy a 3D "surface" within a 4D "volume"). For such values, you either have to cope with no answer, or define some sort of "nearness" measure to be able to return the input that gives the nearest value to your value.
