Hmm. This indicates that the 999.99 is coming from
the instrument, so something is a bit strange about it.

The Y value of 0.0 is still highly suspicious, so the
999.99 could be a rollover value. Try calibrating
the instrument again. Make sure it is completely
in the dark for the black level calibration (ie.,
inside it's plastic "holder", wrapped in something
opaque).

If this doesn't fix it, perhaps it needs resetting to factory
default. I'm not sure how best to go about that, apart from
using a terminal and manually typing in "5CRI".
