[argyllcms] WCS Gamut mapping strategies

Hi to all,
in a techdoc regarding WCS Gamut mapping strategies
I've found that Windows Color System will match the
whole grey axis on to each other.
Does this make sense?
Has anyone tried this yet and how are the results compared
to whitepoint matching?
