I was able to install it by using the above link and following it where
it led. Some warnings. The file vrmlview_linux.tar.gz has three files
in it: LICENSE.TXT, README, vrmlview, which get dumped in the current
directory. README says incorrectly that vrmlview is the `windoze'
version, but in fact it is a Linux binary. Unfortunately, when I
executed it, it told me it couldn't find the library libstdc
++-libc6.1-1.so.2. I did have a later library, so I created a symbolic
link from the above name to what I had, and it ran.
I also had previously managed to view a vrml file using firefox. I had
to add the appropriate openvrml packages to my Fedora 9 system,
including the openvrml browser plugin package. But I'm not sure whether
the firefox plugin allowed the same number of controls as vrml.
