OK, sounds like it's still a problem, since I think they were
the types of errors I was getting after a usb_close as well. It
may well be that the i1pro rev D is doing something wrong, but the fact
is that the Linux USB driver is not coping as gracefully as
the MSWindows and OS X USB drivers.
