It's just the repeatability error of the measurement, plus any
differences between strip mode (assuming you're using a strip
instrument) and spot mode. The number of samples and lamp
dynamics can have minor effect. Also, there are sampling
area differences - a strip read will sample a slightly different
area to a spot read, and even a spot read will sample
a slightly different area every time the instrument is
placed.
