Still, X-Rite Toolcrib v5 has no problem finding my DTP41 and interface to
it normally.

tried to look into it further, everything worked normally.

Unfortunately, I don't have easy access to an XP box. If you
run printread with -d, what does it show ?

(You should be able to capture it to a log using:

        printread -d -other options 2> log
)
