So, I might wind up with more art reproduction work. Still family and
friends to start, but a job worth doing....
I'd like to have a good reference light source to match what I see on
the display to the original.
There doesn't seem to be any consensus on the 'Net. SoLux gets rave
reviews, but they're a very low color temperature and a very high
operating temperature...and I'm in the middle of the Arizona desert.
All the multi-thousand dollar light booths use fluorescent D50 and D65
sources, but they're spiky -- and $$$$!
I've been taking prints to the window or outside to make sure they're
okay, and that works great...but it won't work for side-by-side
tweaking.
Any suggestions?
I've half a mind to buy just the replacement bulb for one of the $$$$
booths, a generic dimmable fixture, some cheap plywood, and a can of
neutral gray paint. Surely there can't be that much more to it than
that, can there?
And, once I get a solution, whatever it is, can I calibrate and
profile the display to match the light source? (I've got an i1 Pro.)
Cheers,
b&
