Hi all,
As has been noted recently on the Argyll mailing list, color management
isn't easy. And for linux users, it's even more difficult because we
have to know more. I recently switched from windows to linux and
certainly have felt the pain of trying to figure out what to do next.
Argyll, fwiw, was the deciding factor in my decision to make the switch
from windows to linux - without color management, switching os'es was
just out of the question.
It seemed to me that the digikam handbook documentation on color
management could use some improvement. So I wrote up a tutorial that
has been incorporated into the 9.4 handbook.
Here's a link to the original tutorial posted to the digikam user's group:
http://www.nabble.com/Tutorial%3A-Color-Management%2C-Camera-Profiles%2C---Working-Spaces-to17587858.html#a17587858
Here's a link to the new digikam handbook:

The tutorial, slightly modified, starts around page 203.
Some of the CM documentation "issues" in the handbook that prompted my
tutorial - particularly the part about the digikam color management
settings that members of this list have already noted are problematic -
still remain. But one step at a time.
Before I send Gerhard my suggested changes, I would absolutely love to
get input from you all.
I've tried my best to write a good CM tutorial, and I can see ways to
improve and add to what I've written. But I thought it would be nice if
someone who really knows color management inside and out would read over
my tutorial and tell if I've made any really horrible conceptual errors
or simply haven't been very clear, or, or, or . . .
Thanks in advance,
Elle Stone
