I am only usinfg the -u flag
profile -v -qu -u camImageFile
I am trying to compare the same image processed with two profiles. One
created with profile Maker and the other created with argyll.
It appears from the documentation that the -u flag overrides any intent
setting flags. Am I reading this correctly?

to profile that I should set?
Without a whole lot more information, such as what sort of device,
what intent, what current flags, etc., it's not possible to suggest much.
If it's anything involving using the perceptual or saturation intents,
then it's probably down to different gamut mapping algorithms.
