I assumed this to be the case. Starting from a brightness of about 70%, I can 
start measuring with dispcal.

With this setting, I went ahead and created my first profile. I calibrated for 
a 95cd/m2 brightness and 6500K white point (I based this on suggestions from 
the Real World Colormanagement book by Fraser et al). I ended up with a 
brightness of 21% only to reach 95cd/m2 !
