I have some new data from the same display (cheap laptop TN but I plan
to repeat this little test on a CG275W tomorrow).
ColorMunki - default mode - uncalibrated display:
Black level = 0.11 cd/m^2
White level = 117.99 cd/m^2
Aprox. gamma = 2.38
Contrast ratio = 1033:1
White chromaticity coordinates 0.3324, 0.3642
White Correlated Color Temperature = 5510K, DE 2K to locus = 13.1
White Correlated Daylight Temperature = 5512K, DE 2K to locus = 10.4
White Visual Color Temperature = 5152K, DE 2K to locus = 12.8
White Visual Daylight Temperature = 5257K, DE 2K to locus = 10.0
ColorMunki - HiRes mode - uncalibrated display:
Black level = 0.15 cd/m^2
White level = 118.28 cd/m^2
Aprox. gamma = 2.38
Contrast ratio = 787:1
White chromaticity coordinates 0.3331, 0.3635
White Correlated Color Temperature = 5480K, DE 2K to locus = 12.6
White Correlated Daylight Temperature = 5482K, DE 2K to locus = 9.7
White Visual Color Temperature = 5143K, DE 2K to locus = 12.2
White Visual Daylight Temperature = 5248K, DE 2K to locus = 9.4
ColorMunki - Adaptive HiRes mode - uncalibrated display:
Black level = 0.14 cd/m^2
White level = 118.82 cd/m^2
Aprox. gamma = 2.38
Contrast ratio = 822:1
White chromaticity coordinates 0.3332, 0.3637
White Correlated Color Temperature = 5480K, DE 2K to locus = 12.7
White Correlated Daylight Temperature = 5482K, DE 2K to locus = 9.8
White Visual Color Temperature = 5140K, DE 2K to locus = 12.3
White Visual Daylight Temperature = 5245K, DE 2K to locus = 9.5
Display Pro - no correction - uncalibrated display:
Black level = 0.16 cd/m^2
White level = 129.81 cd/m^2
Aprox. gamma = 2.27
Contrast ratio = 810:1
White chromaticity coordinates 0.3291, 0.3593
White Correlated Color Temperature = 5639K, DE 2K to locus = 12.3
White Correlated Daylight Temperature = 5639K, DE 2K to locus = 9.4
White Visual Color Temperature = 5295K, DE 2K to locus = 12.0
White Visual Daylight Temperature = 5402K, DE 2K to locus = 9.1
Display Pro - ccss from CM AHR - uncalibrated display:
Black level = 0.16 cd/m^2
White level = 130.25 cd/m^2
Aprox. gamma = 2.28
Contrast ratio = 814:1
White chromaticity coordinates 0.3283, 0.3574
White Correlated Color Temperature = 5672K, DE 2K to locus = 11.8
White Correlated Daylight Temperature = 5672K, DE 2K to locus = 8.8
White Visual Color Temperature = 5340K, DE 2K to locus = 11.5
White Visual Daylight Temperature = 5449K, DE 2K to locus = 8.5
Display Pro - ccmx from CM AHR - uncalibrated display:
Black level = 0.15 cd/m^2
White level = 118.99 cd/m^2
Aprox. gamma = 2.28
Contrast ratio = 816:1
White chromaticity coordinates 0.3336, 0.3641
White Correlated Color Temperature = 5462K, DE 2K to locus = 12.7
White Correlated Daylight Temperature = 5465K, DE 2K to locus = 9.8
White Visual Color Temperature = 5125K, DE 2K to locus = 12.3
White Visual Daylight Temperature = 5230K, DE 2K to locus = 9.5
The ccss seems to have little to no effect at all on white
measurements but the matrix aligned the two sensort. At least at this
discrete point...
But after a calibration:
Display Pro - ccmx from CM AHR - calibrated display (VGA LUT only):
Black level = 0.15 cd/m^2
White level = 89.03 cd/m^2
Aprox. gamma = 2.35
Contrast ratio = 580:1
White chromaticity coordinates 0.3104, 0.3272
White Correlated Color Temperature = 6644K, DE 2K to locus = 4.9
White Correlated Daylight Temperature = 6644K, DE 2K to locus = 0.4
White Visual Color Temperature = 6458K, DE 2K to locus = 4.7
White Visual Daylight Temperature = 6630K, DE 2K to locus = 0.4
ColorMunki - Adaptive HiRes mode - calibrated display (VGA LUT only):
Black level = 0.15 cd/m^2
White level = 87.10 cd/m^2
Aprox. gamma = 2.45
Contrast ratio = 573:1
White chromaticity coordinates 0.3077, 0.3243
White Correlated Color Temperature = 6826K, DE 2K to locus = 4.8
White Correlated Daylight Temperature = 6826K, DE 2K to locus = 0.3
White Visual Color Temperature = 6630K, DE 2K to locus = 4.6
White Visual Daylight Temperature = 6815K, DE 2K to locus = 0.3
It looks like the matrix correction is no longer valid for the
calibrated display. (I always had fears about this.)
I also attached a RAR file with all the data I collected today.
(Sorry, but I had to rename it to .TXT because of various restrictions
in both freelist and google mail.)
There are two profile verification reports (HTML format) in the
D65_g2.3_XYZlut5169p_2012.02.09 folder (same profile, two sensors).
I know the 5169 is an insane number of patches but with a fast an
stable sensor like this I could not resist to do this at least once.
And the profile of the uncalibrated display is indeed better than
anything I could do with the CM spctro's time limit and speed in
adaptive mode.
