[argyllcms] Re: Color laser printer profiling

At work, I can print on 2 color laser printers; a Dell, and a Canon. Both
give very bad results; one has strange blue, the other strange green/red.
I do not print photos on these printers, but even graphics look hugly.

About all that's guaranteed in a work printer is that the black works. Strange blue could mean that the printer is out of yellow toner. Likewise strange green/red could mean a toner problem.

Is there a simple way to profile them? I have a low price scanner, which
can be use for that purpose. Could I use the same technic as for ink jet
printers? Do you have recommendations?

Start by printing a test pattern with a gray step wedge, and patches of pure cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, at 50 and 100 percent coverage. If the test print looks OK (no missing colors), look for an online canned profile.

Last, once the profile is done with Argyll, how do I use it through Cups?
Does anyone has experience with that printer driver? If not, I'll ask a
the cups list.

The CUPS group sounds like a good place to start. Be sure to tell them your OS, there are different procedures for Windows, Linux, and Mac.
