[argyllcms] Camera profiling?

I'm shooting some artwork for a book. It occurs to me that, even
if I have to build a new profile for every change in lighting
(etc.), I'd still (perhaps) get better results with less effort by
using Argyll than by tweaking curves in Camera Raw to get ``close
enough.''
Should I create profiles? If so, how? Treat the camera like a
scanner...?
I have both a ColorChecker and the scanner chart that comes with
the i1 Pro. Will either (or both) of those suffice?
Cheers,
b&
