When I said "shadows" I meant near blacks and black Graeme -- and I don't understand why I get a rich black of:

0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 [Lab] -> Lut -> 56.619897 66.694278 71.962636 99.999998 [CMYK]

Working with an ink limit of 300%, depending on how I set the black curve I get non-neutral CMY values appearing below L10.

On any single image this might not be a problem. But with product images that sit on black backgrounds then this black is a PITA to deal with repro-wise. It also looks wrong in Photoshop because of the huge discrepancy between the relative and perceptual blacks.

Using Profilemaker to generate a "MaxK" curve on the same data I get blacks like i'd expect them (although it puts too much yellow in the light neutrals).

Is there any way of neutralizing the black or controlling the CMY curves in the shadow areas?

Regards
