No.  applying LUT and a X atom is not something worth adding a new
dependency on gnome-control-center. For now, I plan to do the applying
part. UI will come later.

Is this really the current situation that the atom is lost when the
screensaver goes on?  I have not noticed it yet on my system.
As I understand it the issue is that some screen savers use the LUT to fade the display and instead of restoring it to its previous value afterwards they reset it. See:
